Invited talks at ASRC-CUNY and CARY Institute of Ecosystem Studies

“Including the stoichiometry of C, macronutrients, and toxic elements in the LTER/CZO agendas.” This is the subject of two talks to be delivered at the CARY Institute of Ecosystem Studies (the 13th of February 2025) and the Advance Science Research Centre – The Environmental Sciences Initiative Department, City University of New York (the 14th of February).

The presentation will start by presenting the research context, namely, the Fulbright program and the Romanian School of Systems Ecology. It will then move to a description of a Fulbright project aimed to catalyze the development of a critical zone observatory in Romania with a stoichiometric approach in the research agenda. A novel aspect of this work is to add toxic elements to stoichiometric analysis, which has traditionally focused on nutrients. This addition should facilitate analysis of ecosystems affected to anthropogenic activities and help to develop management and mitigation approaches for these ecosystems.
